Bob Marleys Reggae-Klassiker ist nicht nur ein Wiederstandslied, es wendet sich auch in sozialistisch anmutender Weise gegen eine Religion, die die Erlösung auf den “Himmel” oder den “jüngsten Tag” verschiebt. Dabei war der Sänger als Anhänger der Rastafari-Religion aber durchaus ein spiritueller Mensch, jedoch diesseitig orientiert.
